Case forming

Case forming machines are automatic systems that belong to packaging lines, for carton boxes erection and the sealing or taping of their lower flaps, leaving them ready for further filling.

This machine is fitted with a folded boxes loader, from where the cartons are extracted, open, lower flaps folded and sent to the bottom taping section. Thus, the box is ready for the next line section: filling with the product.

Case forming machines spare time, space and the operator that would have to do it manually. Therefore, the magazine should have enough capacity to store an amount of cases equivalent to 30 to 60 minutes of production time.

It is recommended to fit additional magazines for an easier use of the case former, provided that there is enough room. Such magazines may be horizontal or vertical and may include an alarm system to warn of lacking cartons.

Our range includes several types of formers, each one of them adapted to the needs of specific customers, reaching taping speeds of up to 50 cases/min, although the usual output is around 10 to 15 cases/min

Main technical features

  • Preformed folded carton boxes are placed in the magazine
  • A vacuum suction plate extracts the box at the top, unfolding it
  • Another vacuum activated holder completes the box opening action
  • The bottom flaps are sealed with self adhesive tape or hot melt glue
  • Once open and bottom sealed, the box leaves the former
  • The main advantages of a former in a packaging line are:
  • Increase of production and flexibility
  • Sturdy and long lasting equipment
  • Adjustable to different carton sizes
  • Clean and long lasting sealing, suitable for the food industry
  • Easy handling, risk-free for human operators
  • Automatic operation
